SHANTI spotlight on India-U.S. civil nuclear ties

The Embassy of India in Washington, D.C., in association with the Nuclear Energy Institute, organised an event titled “A Celebration of the SHANTI Act and US-India Nuclear Energy Cooperation,” underscoring growing collaboration in the civil nuclear sector between the two countries.

According to the announcement post made by the embassy on X, the event brought together key government officials and industry leaders to highlight the significance of the SHANTI Act in advancing bilateral nuclear ties.

Vinay Mohan Kwatra, India’s Ambassador to the United States, participated alongside James Danly, Deputy Secretary at the United States Department of Energy, and Christopher Yeaw, Assistant Secretary at the Bureau of Arms Control and Nonproliferation.



In his remarks, Ambassador Kwatra highlighted the “enormous potential” of India–US collaboration in civil nuclear energy, pointing to opportunities for clean energy growth, technology exchange, and long-term strategic partnership.

The event also saw participation from industry representatives, including Holtec International, GE Vernova, Westinghouse Electric Company, and X-energy.

The post on X mentioned that representatives from these firms expressed strong enthusiasm about expanding industry-to-industry cooperation and exploring opportunities in the growing Indian-American nuclear energy market.
