The recognition adds to Sharda’s already extensive record of achievements in teaching, research, and leadership. A regents professor at Oklahoma State University’s Spears School of Business, Sharda joined Spears Business in 1980 and is among the school’s longest-serving faculty members.

After more than 11 years as vice dean for graduate programs and research, Sharda returned to full-time teaching this year. He holds the ConocoPhillips chair in technology management, has authored widely cited research, co-written two textbooks, and served on multiple editorial boards.

Sharda’s leadership in professional organizations has been notable. He previously co-chaired AMCIS in 2009 (San Francisco) and 2016 (San Diego). Beyond AMCIS, he is an AIS Fellow, an INFORMS Fellow, and a member of the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame.

Sharda's academic journey began in India, where he earned a bachelor of engineering (honors) from the University of Udaipur, Rajasthan. He went on to earn a master’s degree from Ohio State University, followed by a master of business administration and a doctorate in management science and information systems from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
