Indian American Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) warned that the American dream is “slipping out of the grasp of millions of people” in a new advertisement for his U.S. Senate campaign.
In the 30-second spot, Krishnamoorthi criticized President Trump’s tax policies, saying the administration had delivered “a huge set of tax cuts for the wealthiest, funded by cuts to the social safety net.”

Framing his Senate bid as a push for equal opportunity across the state, the democrat urged voters to channel “anger and fear” into action and pledged to work for an Illinois “where everyone has a chance to succeed, regardless of the color of their skin or the number of letters in their name.”

The race to succeed retiring Senator Dick Durbin has drawn a crowded Democratic primary field, including Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton and Rep. Robin Kelly. While Stratton has secured endorsements from Governor J.B. Pritzker and Senator Tammy Duckworth, Krishnamoorthi has built a commanding lead in fundraising and early polling.
Campaign finance disclosures show he raised more than $12 million by June 30, largely transferred from his House campaign account, leaving him with nearly $12 million in cash on hand. Recent polls place his support between 38 and 51 percent among Democratic primary voters, ahead of his rivals.
On the campaign trail, Krishnamoorthi has highlighted his role on the House Intelligence Committee and his legislative work on middle-class job growth, technical education, and national security.
He has toured rural and downstate Illinois in recent weeks, promising greater investment in agriculture and underdeveloped regions. His candidacy has also been endorsed by the Indian American Impact Fund, which praised his “principled, results-driven leadership.”
