Ohio’s Bowling Green State University (BGSU) has welcomed Indian-American academician Ravi Krovi as its new provost and senior vice president.
Krovi brings with him a long-standing commitment to student success and inclusive higher education, succeeding interim provost Glenn Davis, who stepped in after Joe Whitehead returned to the faculty.

Krovi, who most recently served as provost at Weber State University in Utah and previously held multiple leadership roles at the University of Akron, said his guiding philosophy is simple: “meeting students where they are.” He emphasized the importance of supporting first-generation and low-income students, who often face financial, academic, and social challenges.
“Provost Krovi is a longtime champion of student success and access to higher education, which is absolutely aligned with Bowling Green’s commitment to ensuring our students are prepared for great careers and great lives,” said president Rogers in a statement to BG Falcon Media.
Since arriving in Bowling Green, Krovi said he has been struck by the strong connection between the university and the surrounding community, as well as the empathetic culture he sees across campus. “From the president to staff to faculty to the person who does the landscaping — everybody cares about students, which I think is really refreshing because that’s not always the case in every institution,” he said.
Looking ahead, Krovi identified three main challenges: shifting perceptions of higher education’s value, declining high school graduate numbers, and the impact of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence. He hopes to address these by strengthening BGSU’s brand, expanding partnerships, and fostering deeper collaboration between faculty and students.
Krvovi holds a BE from the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, India, dual MS and Ph.D from University of Memphis.
