A promise of a 'Rs. 50,000 per month job' (US$ 518) in Dubai proved out to be a trap for a 22-year-old tribal woman from Jharkhand, who instead landed at an Omani household where she is allegedly being sexually harassed by elderly men along with being forced to overwork.
Maithili (name changed) who belongs to a village in the Thethaitanger block of Jharkhand's Simdega, had met Delhi-based Seema Minz Kachhap, who allegedly promised to help her land a job in Dubai for a monthly salary of Rs. 50,000. However, when Maithili, her friend Rekha and another woman were scheduled to board a flight to Dubai as promised in January 2026, they were handed over flight tickets to Oman instead.
This alarmed the trio, who questioned Kachhap but the latter assured them that they would be sent to Dubai via Oman by Omani agents who would meet the women soon after landing in Oman.
Fate, however, had something else in store for the women as they realized that they had been trapped after they were sent to different Omani households where the women were allegedly forced to work as domestic helps at a monthly salary of about Rs. 24000 (US$249) in hostile conditions.
