Pramila Jayapal receives Bosnian Institute Bridge Award
The honor recognizes her efforts to strengthen cross-community ties and promote democratic values.

Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal received the Bridge Award from the Bosnian American Institute (BAI) for her work in strengthening ties between communities and advancing civic engagement.
Sharing the news on social media, Jayapal wrote, "During these times, it is so important that we build bridges between communities to educate and empower each other."

"I was honored to receive the Bosnian American Institute's Bridge Award. Thank you BAI for all of your work to help the Bosnian American community use their voices, and engage in and promote democracy," she added.

The Bosnian American Institute is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the history and cultural heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina while encouraging civic participation and democratic engagement among Bosnian Americans.
Jayapal has previously worked with the Bosnian American Institute on community outreach. Ahead of Seattle's hosting of the Bosnia and Herzegovina-Qatar FIFA World Cup match, she welcomed Bosnian fans in a video message, calling it "a moment of extraordinary pride for the Bosnian diaspora across America."
The institute said she was the first member of Congress to officially welcome Bosnian supporters to Seattle.
Founded in 2011, the organization works on education, genocide awareness, cultural preservation, leadership development, and community outreach across North America. It describes its mission as building bridges between communities through education and civic action.
