Netflix India released the trailer for Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web, a crime thriller series set in the world of customs enforcement and international smuggling.

The series will premiere on the streaming platform on Jan. 14.

The trailer introduces a high-stakes investigation led by a specialized customs task force operating out of Mumbai International Airport.

The story follows officers Arjun Meena, played by Emraan Hashmi, Mitali Kamath (Amruta Khanvilkar), Ravinder Gujjar (Nandish Singh Sandhu), and Prakash Kumar (Anurag Sinha), who are tasked with dismantling a sprawling smuggling syndicate operating across multiple international routes.

The series traces smuggling corridors spanning Al-Dera, Addis Ababa, Milan, and Bangkok, depicting a network built on false manifests, coded routes, and layered deception. At the center of the operation is a crime syndicate led by Bada Chaudhary, played by Sharad Kelkar, whose organization is designed to evade detection through complex global logistics.

Created by Neeraj Pandey, Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web focuses on the workings of customs enforcement and the pressure of surveillance-driven investigations, where officers rely on both intelligence and instinct to intercept illegal shipments.

“Customs has been a world I’ve always wanted to explore. The idea of stepping inside customs enforcement, a space that operates quietly, precisely, and under constant pressure, drew me in,” Pandey said.

He added that the team was “thrilled to collaborate once again with Netflix after a successful franchise with Khakee” and described the series as “a very distinct crime thriller, rooted in authenticity.”

Emraan Hashmi said the project marks his first collaboration with Pandey. “What stood out to me about the series was its grounded, intelligent take on heroism — a story driven by quiet courage, discipline, and duty rather than loud bravado,” he said, adding that the response to the teaser had been encouraging.
