Mindy Kaling’s ‘Not Suitable for Work’ gets release date

The workplace comedy follows five twenty-somethings balancing ambition, relationships and life in New York’s Murray Hill.

Indian American producer-actor Mindy Kaling’s new comedy series Not Suitable for Work will premiere June 2 on Hulu.

The series will debut with its first three episodes on launch day, followed by two episodes weekly through the June 23 finale. It will also stream on Hulu on Disney+ for bundle subscribers in the United States, while Disney+ will carry it internationally.

Kaling shared the announcement on Instagram along with first-look images from the series, writing, “I’m really proud of this one.” She described the show as “funny and romantic” and said it is about “ambitious people who still believe in love.”

According to the official logline, the single-camera comedy follows five work-obsessed twenty-somethings navigating careers and personal lives in Manhattan’s Murray Hill neighborhood.

The cast includes Ella Hunt, Avantika, Will Angus, Jack Martin, Nicholas Duvernay and Jay Ellis. Recurring guest stars include Victor Garber, Greg Germann, Judy Gold, Ego Nwodim, Harry Richardson, Constance Wu, Laura Bell Bundy, May Hong, Bhavesh Patel, Emilia Suárez and Michael Benjamin Washington.

Created by Kaling, the series is produced by Kaling International in association with Warner Bros. Television. Charlie Grandy serves as showrunner and executive producer, with Howard Klein also executive producing for 3 Arts Entertainment.

Not Suitable for Work adds to Kaling’s television shows as a creator and producer, which includes The Mindy Project, Never Have I Ever and The Sex Lives of College Girls, and Running Point.
