Let’s be honest – Falling in love is already a beautiful yet complicated affair. Adding a language difference to that, and you are suddenly either living in a romcom that writes itself or starring in a sob story you can’t wait to share with your 3 AM friends.
Many Indian American couples find themselves navigating this delicate balance. One partner grew up with a Tamil, Punjabi, or Marathi accent ringing through the walls, while the other comes from a world where English is the only vocabulary they have ever known. And, when such people fall in love, the result is tender, awkward, hilarious, and sometimes quite painful.
