India's Desi Oon bags jury award at Annecy

The film was commissioned to help create awareness about Indian wool.

Suresh Eriyat’s animated film , ‘Desi Oon,’ has won the jury award for commissioned film at the Annecy International Animation Festival.

A whopping 3,900 films from 100 countries were selected for the film festival held in France.

India's sole representation at the awards, Desi Oon was commissioned by the Centre for Pastoralism (CfP) to help create awareness about Indian wool.

The director of the animated film, Suresh Eriyat highlighted the significance of the victory and said, "It's definitely a huge honour to win at Annecy, which is considered Oscar for animation. It's a rare achievement for an Indian film to be there and we are very happy that we could bring home that award to India"

He added, "For us, this film was a long journey. It took us more than one year to make this six minute film."

The film launched at the Deccan edition of the Living Lightly exhibition in Bengaluru in February 2025 and can be watched on YouTube for free.

Desi Oon has garnered multiple accolades across both national and international platforms. It recently bagged the Best Film award at the WAVES Awards of Excellence 2025 and was one of the top entries in the Create in India Challenge, an initiative by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (I&B) under the WAVES 2025 summit.
