Anway Pimpalkar, a biomedical engineering student at Johns Hopkins University and originally from Pune, Maharashtra, is part of a team that has developed Re-Kinesis—a wearable foot sensor that turns a pair of insoles into a portable gait lab.
The device has been named a finalist in the National Institute on Aging’s 2025 Start-Up Challenge, which highlights innovative technologies with the potential to improve aging-related care.
