The Indian American Medical Association Charitable Foundation (IAMACF) transformed the Waterford Banquet Hall into a hub of compassion and community service during its 31st Annual Fundraising Gala on Apr.26. Over 300 physicians, medical students, and supporters came together to raise funds for the Seva Community Health Clinic, a vital resource for underserved communities.
Special guests included AAPI President, Dr. Satheesh Kathula, Mrs. Rajul Bhalala, President of Chinmaya Mission Chicago, Mr. Sunil Shah, Founding President of FIA, Dr. Piyush Vyas, ISMS President, Padma Shri Dr. Bharat Barai and Dr. Arvind Goyal, Executive Medical director of Illinois State Health and Family Services. The evening was marked by inspiring speeches, cultural performances, and a nostalgic Bollywood musical journey.
The Gala began with exhibitors showcasing healthcare innovations appreciated by the gathering. Dr. Annita John and Dr. Rajan shah guided the evening as the Master of Ceremonies. In his opening address Dr. Dilip Shah, the 43rd President of the Indian American Medical Association (IAMA-IL), emphasized the clinic’s role as a lifeline for people since 1994.
Calling upon the attendees to meet the $220,000 fundraising target for the expansion of clinic’s operations, Dr. Shah reminded them of Mother Teresa’s famous quote, “It’s not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving.” Dr. Rajeev Kumar, IAMA-IL Secretary, led the semi-annual business meeting, introducing the 2025 Executive Committee and Board of Directors.
Dr. Samir Shah, the newly elected chairperson, welcomed the audience and outlined the free clinic’s goals for 2025 while highlighting the impact it made last year by serving 1,287 patients. He also outlined plans for expansion of its services while thanking partners like Neelyx Labs for support.
