Democratic Congressman Ro Khanna is among the first leaders to celebrate Zohran Mamdani's win in the New York Mayoral race.

Khanna, a vocal supporter of Mamdani's election bid, took to social media to celebrate the victory of the first Indian origin mayor of New York, Zohran Mamdani.

Khanna, in a video message, said that the victory "shows that a bold progressive can win on an affordability agenda and an agenda for human rights in Gaza."

He added, "This is a historic victory for the progressive movement."

In a separate post on X, Khanna also celebrated the multiple wins that his party recorded during the day. He said, "Yes on Prop 50 wins, Mamdani wins, Spanberger wins, Sherrill wins, Colorado passes tax on rich to fund school meals!"

Talking about the first major election season since Trump's victory in the presidential elections, Khanna further remarked, "This is the beginning of the Democratic comeback and hopefully the dawn of a new populist and progressive era."

Support also poured in from Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal who described the election results as a "huge win". Highlighting Mamdani's core campaign promises, she said, "Proud to have been an early supporter of Zohran & his people-powered campaign rooted in justice, dignity, and care for all."

She further said, "This victory is a mandate to deliver real results for working people—and a lesson for Democrats across the country."
