India has emerged as the leading birthplace of foreign-born billionaires in the United States, according to Forbes’ 2025 list of America’s Richest Immigrants.
With 12 Indian-origin billionaires, India has surpassed Israel and Taiwan (each with 11) to top the list, reinforcing the growing influence of Indian entrepreneurs and professionals in America’s economic landscape.

Among the Indian-origin billionaires, cybersecurity pioneer Jay Chaudhry, founder of Zscaler, is the richest, with a net worth of $17.9 billion. Other notable names include Vinod Khosla ($9.2B), Sundar Pichai ($1.1B), Satya Nadella ($1.1B), and Nikesh Arora ($1.4B), highlighting India’s strength in the tech and finance sectors. Notably, all 12 are self-made, underscoring the resilience and ambition that define the immigrant success story.
More than 93 percent of all immigrant billionaires in the U.S. are self-made, and nearly two-thirds of them built their wealth in technology and finance, according to Forbes.
This year, a record 125 foreign-born American citizens have made the billionaire list, up from 92 in 2022. Together, these immigrants—hailing from 43 different countries—account for 14% of the nearly 900 billionaires in the U.S. and control $1.3 trillion, or 18 percent of the nation's total billionaire wealth.

2. Vinod Khosla – Co-founder of Sun Microsystems and prominent venture capitalist, worth $9.2 billion.
3. Rakesh Gangwal – Airline industry magnate and co-founder of IndiGo, with a fortune of $6.6 billion.
4. Romesh T. Wadhwani – Software entrepreneur and founder of Symphony Technology Group, with $5.0 billion.
5. Rajiv Jain – Asset manager and co-founder of GQG Partners, with a net worth of $4.8 billion.
6. Kavitark Ram Shriram – Early Google investor and venture capitalist, worth $3.0 billion.
7. Raj Sardana – CEO of technology services firm Innova Solutions, valued at $2.0 billion.
8. David Paul – Founder of medical devices company Globus Medical, with $1.5 billion.
9. Nikesh Arora – CEO of cybersecurity giant Palo Alto Networks, formerly with Google and SoftBank, worth $1.4 billion.
10. Sundar Pichai – CEO of Alphabet (Google’s parent company), holding $1.1 billion.
11. Satya Nadella – CEO of Microsoft, with a net worth of $1.1 billion.
12. Neerja Sethi – Co-founder of IT consulting firm Syntel, worth $1.0 billion.
