British Indian educator and children's author Divya Mistry-Patel is spearheading a quiet but powerful movement to preserve native languages among diaspora communities, using bilingual children's literature as her tool for change.
Her Gujarati-English book Mari Rang Be Range Biladi (My Colourful Cat) is gaining recognition for its innovative approach to language preservation, especially at a time when UNESCO estimates that nearly half of all spoken languages are at risk of extinction.
