Empower and Connect is a student-founded nonprofit based in Katy, Texas, at Obra D. Tompkins High School. The organization aims to empower underserved communities in their local and global community through youth-led innovation, education, and sustainable development.

This year, Empower and Connect’s teams of high school students from Tompkins High School and international partners have unveiled two major initiatives driving real-world impact in Kenya and India. The organization’s Team A provides Autodesk Inventor training to Kenyan youth to build STEM career pathways, and Team B partners with local governments and medical students in Kenya and Mumbai to distribute high-efficiency water filters, improving public health and access to clean water.

New India Abroad spoke with Yuvi Parmar, founder and president of Empower and Connect to learn more about their initiatives. Here are the highlights of our interview.
