GOPIO hosts financial planning event in California

The event featured three sessions covering financial strategies, estate planning basics, and updates from GOPIO International.

The GOPIO Orange County chapter hosted a community event focused on financial management and estate planning March 22 at Tandoor Restaurant in Orange, California, drawing a full audience from the Indian diaspora.

The event, held as the chapter’s first initiative of 2026, featured three sessions covering financial strategies, estate planning basics, and updates from GOPIO International. It aimed to raise awareness of “essential life management strategies” while highlighting ongoing global programs, according to organizers.

The program opened with a traditional Ganesh Vandana performed by Siddharth Pathak. Amrit Bhandari, chairman and founder of the OC chapter, outlined the group’s history and mission, while chapter president Hark Vasa introduced committee members and speakers. He also noted that Southern California has four GOPIO chapters and said a joint event is planned later this year.

Financial advisor Mahesh Jain led the first session, presenting investment strategies alongside Vaishali Jain in a dialogue format. Jain discussed approaches aimed at generating “double-digit returns while preserving capital” despite market volatility. He later answered audience questions.

Attorney Anju Multani, founder of the South Asian Bar Association in Southern California, followed with a session on estate planning. She outlined key elements including wills, probate, and trusts, stressing the importance of having legally valid documents to manage and transfer assets.

J. Nami Kaur, global ambassador and chair of the GOPIO Foundation, delivered an update on international initiatives. She discussed diaspora engagement, philanthropy, and new programs launched since 2025, including webinars, newsletters, and a website relaunch. She also highlighted the upcoming GOPIO International Convention scheduled for Dec. 18-20 in Mumbai, India.

The event concluded with cultural performances, including Bollywood and Kathak dance and a musical performance, followed by a vote of thanks, networking, and lunch.
