GE HealthCare appoints Indian American Akshar Awalgaonkar as Senior VP

Awalgaonkar holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from Penn State University, along with degrees in Engineering from Oklahoma State University and Savitribai Phule Pune University.

Pennsylvania based GE HealthCare has named Indian-American Akshar Awalgaonkar as Senior Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer, bolstering its global leadership team.

In his new role, Awalgaonkar will lead GE HealthCare’s global procurement organization, focusing on sourcing excellence, supplier partnerships, operational resilience, and value creation to support the company’s mission of advancing precision care worldwide.

Awalgaonkar brings with him over two decades of global leadership experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, supply chain transformation, and commercial operations across complex, regulated industries.

His appointment marks a return to the GE family, where he worked for around 7 years at the early stages of his career, rising from the rank of Global Strategic Sourcing Manager to being the Executive Director of Program and Profit Management Office, before moving Walgreens as Assistant VP of GLobal Procurement.

Prior to rejoining GE HealthCare, he served as Group Vice President & Chief Procurement Officer at Avery Dennison, where he drove global procurement strategy and enterprise-wide value creation for the Fortune 500 materials science and digital identification solutions company.

Awalgaonkar has also held leadership positions at companies including Bosch, Whirlpool and AbbVie
