It took the media in India most of 2025 to wake up to Finding Grandpa—a film by an Indian-origin Australian filmmaker that had already traveled quietly into festivals before being recognized at home.

Written and directed by Anita Barar and produced by Cinzia Guaraldi of Salt of the Earth Productions, the 52-minute documentary is not merely about one man’s search for a lost ancestor. It is about memory, migration, and a promise that refused to fade.
