FICCI delegation engages Chinese Industry in Shanghai
The discussions focused on expanding India-China trade ties and exploring partnerships in manufacturing, technology and infrastructure sectors.

The Consulate General of India in Shanghai hosted a meeting between a Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) delegation led by FICCI President Anant Goenka and Chinese business leaders on May 15 to discuss bilateral economic cooperation.
In his keynote address, Consul General Pratik Mathur highlighted India’s ongoing economic transformation under the government’s “Viksit Bharat” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat” vision.

He said India’s focus on resilient supply chains, ease of doing business, digital public infrastructure and manufacturing competitiveness, supported by Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes, has created opportunities for global partnerships.
Mathur said Eastern China, a major hub for advanced manufacturing and innovation, could emerge as a key partner for India in developing industrial ecosystems, scaling investments and advancing technology collaboration.
He also outlined the strengths of Indian industry across sectors and reiterated FICCI’s role in connecting Indian businesses with global industry partners. The discussions highlighted potential cooperation in advanced manufacturing, green technologies, the digital economy, healthcare and infrastructure.
The interaction focused on enhancing trade, investment flows and technological cooperation between India and China. Participants expressed interest in exploring partnerships aligned with India’s economic growth and global integration efforts.
The interaction comes as India continues to position itself as a global manufacturing and investment destination under the government’s “Viksit Bharat” vision aimed at transforming the country into a developed economy by 2047.
FICCI, established in 1927, is one of India’s oldest and largest business chambers and represents more than 250,000 companies through direct and indirect membership.
