The Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) Chicago has announced a series of events to commemorate India’s 78th Independence Day, aimed at honoring national heroes and showcasing the country’s culture in the heart of the U.S.
The celebrations begin on July 4, with participation in the 4th of July Parade—a gesture that celebrates the shared democratic values of India and the United States, while promoting unity and cultural pride.
This is followed by a Summer Picnic on July 27, featuring food, games, and banner displays. On August 10, FIA joins hands with ICO for the Bharat Independence Day Parade in Naperville, inviting community members to walk in the parade or sponsor the event.
August 15 marks the official Flag Hoisting Ceremony at Daley Plaza, followed by the Tiranga Car Rally in Schaumburg — encouraging patriotic displays and community participation.
The festivities continue on August 22 with the Patriotic Banquet Gala, paying tribute to India’s freedom fighters. The event includes opportunities for sponsors, booths, and digital promotions.
August 24, the final day of festivities will feature two major events: a morning Bharat Independence Day Parade on Devon Avenue and an evening Bharat Mela, a family-friendly cultural fair with food, music, and vendor stalls.
