FedEx appoints Vishal Talwar chief digital and information officer

He most recently served as chief growth officer at Accenture.

FedEx Corp., a Tennessee-based multinational courier, logistics, and transportation company has appointed Indian-American tech executive Vishal Talwar as chief digital and information officer, executive vice president, and president of FedEx Dataworks, effective August 15.

In his new role, Talwar will oversee strategic efforts to advance FedEx’s digital transformation, leveraging data science, artificial intelligence, advanced technology infrastructure, and cybersecurity. He will lead teams in both the data and technology and dataworks divisions, focusing on innovative digital solutions designed to strengthen global supply chains, the company said in a statement.

Talwar, who most recently served as senior managing director and chief growth officer at Accenture Technology, brings more than 27 years of experience in technology-driven growth, operational efficiency, and customer experience enhancement. 

His background includes senior roles at IBM and Dell Services, as well as nearly two years of close collaboration with FedEx on its digital transformation initiatives through Accenture.

Raj Subramaniam, president and CEO of FedEx, welcomed the appointment, citing Talwar’s “proven track record in accelerating business growth through forward-thinking strategies and transformative digital solutions.” 

“His institutional knowledge and industry expertise will be instrumental as we continue to advance our long-term strategy and harness the full potential of FedEx intelligence to deliver even greater value to our customers and stockholders,” Subramaniam added. 

Talwar expressed enthusiasm about joining FedEx during what he described as a “transformative period” for the company. “I am honored to join FedEx during such a transformative period as the company leverages the power of technology, data, and AI to make supply chains smarter for everyone. I have tremendous confidence in the future of FedEx and am thrilled to be a part of the team,” Talwar said. 

FedEx, which reported $88 billion in annual revenue, operates a global transportation, e-commerce, and business services network, employing more than 500,000 people. The company aims to achieve carbon-neutral operations by 2040.
