Indian-origin theatre artist Dibyendu Paul was named a recipient of the Aabaha Samman Award, to be presented at the Aabaha Art & Theater Festival (AATF) 2026 in Sugar Hill, Georgia.
A playwright, actor and director with more than four decades of involvement in theatre, Paul has worked across India and the United States.

According to organizers, he has presented stage productions in multiple U.S. cities and participated in theatre festivals in and around Kolkata, India.
In addition to directing and acting, he has conducted workshops and lectures aimed at mentoring emerging artists and facilitating artistic exchange between practitioners in both countries.
The Aabaha Samman recognizes individuals whose work has had a measurable impact on theatre and community arts, with a focus on artistic practice and cross-cultural engagement.
Kallol Nandi, founder and director of Aabaha and convenor of AATF, said in a statement that the award reflects the organization’s commitment to honoring artists who strengthen communities through the arts.
The awards will be conferred during the three-day festival scheduled for Aug. 14–16 at The Eagle Theatre at Sugar Hill.
Aabaha is an Atlanta-based nonprofit theatre organization that focuses on community-based and multicultural productions. The group stages the annual Aabaha Art and Theater Festival as a platform for theatre groups, visual artists and community dialogue.
