Dev Patel’s ‘Rabbit Trap’ turns sound into slow-burn horror

A couple’s attempt to record the Welsh forest on tape slowly gives way to an unsettling encounter shaped by folklore, isolation and psychological unease.

In Rabbit Trap, Dev Patel trades charisma for quiet dread, anchoring a hushed, unnerving folk horror that creeps under the skin rather than lunging for it. 

Set against the misty stillness of 1970s rural Wales, the film turns the simple act of listening into something almost transgressive, asking what happens when art begins to trespass on forces that were never meant to be archived.
