Deepti Sharma's parents celebrate Lord's triumph, target Asian Games success
Family praised India's team effort after landmark Test victory over England.

India all-rounder Deepti Sharma's parents hailed the team's historic victory over England in the first-ever women's Test at Lord's, praising the collective performance and expressing confidence that the side can build on the result ahead of the Asian Games later this year.
India secured a commanding 270-run victory at the Home of Cricket, with Deepti playing a key all-round role. After scoring a half-century in the first innings, she returned figures of 1-10 and 2-36 to help dismiss England for 186 while defending a target of 457.

Calling the win a proud moment for Indian cricket, Deepti's father, Bhagwan Sharma, credited the entire team for the landmark result.
"The girls played their first Test match and our Indian women's cricket team defeated England by 270 runs. All the girls performed very well, which is why they won. This is a matter of great pride," he told IANS.
Bhagwan Sharma also spoke about seeing batting great Sachin Tendulkar at Lord's on the final day, where he congratulated the Indian players after the victory.
"I saw on TV that Sachin Tendulkar was also present at the ground. He congratulated the girls and shook hands with them," he said, while praising Deepti's contribution with both bat and ball.
Looking ahead to the Asian Games in Japan in September, he said the team should carry its momentum into the tournament.
"The whole team has to perform well there as well and win the gold medal," he said.
For Deepti's mother, Sushila Sharma, the victory carried a personal significance, reflecting on how her daughter's cricket career transformed her own interest in the sport.
"Earlier, I barely had knowledge about the game. When her brother used to go out to play, I used to ask why he wasn't studying. But ever since Deepti started playing, I have understood the game," she told IANS.
She said she now watches every India match, setting aside household work to follow the team's progress.
Sushila Sharma added that she prays not only for her daughter but for the entire Indian team before every match.
"I pray for all the daughters of our nation. When every daughter performs well, the team will definitely win and make the country proud," she said.
Congratulating the entire squad, she said her blessings extend to every player representing India.
"I bless all the daughters as much as I bless my daughter," she added.
