Crispy Karma, a Manhattan-based restaurant known for its Indian-inspired fried chicken, is opening its first Queens/Nassau County location in New Hyde Park on May 15 and 16, marking the brand’s expansion into Long Island’s South Asian community.
The new flagship restaurant is located at 271-11 Union Turnpike in New Hyde Park. The opening follows a soft launch scheduled for May 11, according to the company’s announcement released May 5.
Crispy Karma was founded by Chef Jay Jadeja and Raquel Wolf-Jadeja, who also operate ‘The Onion Tree,’ a Long Island restaurant recognized multiple times by Newsday among its “Top 50 Restaurants.” The couple said the new venture brings Indian regional flavors into a fast-casual fried chicken format.
The restaurant first gained attention in Manhattan’s East Village before expanding to Long Island. Its menu includes fried chicken sandwiches, wings and bowls prepared with halal, antibiotic-free chicken marinated in Indian spices. Flavor options include Punjabi, Malai and Kerala Hot styles. Vegetarian and vegan menu items are also available.
“Crispy Karma is Indian Soul food - comforting, nourishing, and made with the highest quality ingredients,” Chef Jay Jadeja said. “We are bringing that same commitment of flavor and texture from the city and The Onion Tree to New Hyde Park, creating a space that is as vibrant and diverse as the community itself.”
Menu items at the New Hyde Park location include the Fiery Karma Sandwich, Butter Chicken Sandwich, Vada Pav and Dosa Battered Onion Rings. The restaurant said the onion rings were named one of the “Best of 2025 so far” by Eater and New York Magazine.
The two-day grand opening celebration will include promotional events for customers visiting the restaurant. The first 50 guests on May 15 and May 16 will receive complimentary gifts, according to the company. The restaurant also plans to distribute free menu samples and mango lassi during the event.
The opening celebrations will also include a selfie station featuring the restaurant’s “Karma Wall” and a daily raffle prize for a catering package serving up to 20 people.
In addition to dine-in service, the New Hyde Park location will support Crispy Karma’s catering and meal preparation operations as the company expands beyond Manhattan.
