Bay Area community celebrates Modi's birthday and Telangana’s liberation

Event showcased unity, heritage, and volunteer contributions while celebrating leadership and historical significance in Northern California.

Over 125 guests gathered on Sept. 17, 2025, at ICC Milpitas, KC Hall, for a joint celebration organized by the Overseas Friends of BJP (OFBJP) Northern California. The event marked Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday and commemorated Telangana Liberation Day, honoring the region’s Independence from Nizam rule in 1948.

The evening began with Deep Prajwalan and Ganesh Vandana, under the theme “A Tribute to Leadership, Freedom, and Unity.” Cultural performances, presentations, and tributes highlighted Modi’s achievements as well as the historical significance of Telangana’s liberation.

Shachindra Nath, Co-Coordinator of the San Francisco Chapter, opened the program with remarks on Modi’s leadership, praising his role in elevating India’s presence on the global stage. Gaurav Patwardhan, OFBJP-USA National Leadership Team member and State Convener of the Foreign Affairs Department, BJP Maharashtra, said, “PM Modi ji calls himself Pradhan Sevak. Every moment of his life is for the service of the nation.”

Community contributions were also recognized. Supporters BookkeepingProTax.com and Anand Bhavan, a South Indian vegetarian restaurant, were acknowledged for their support. Guests then joined a ceremonial cake-cutting to honor the Prime Minister’s milestone birthday, followed by a traditional dinner.

Representatives and leaders from organizations across the Bay Area participated, including Sujata and Ram Joshi, Suresh Deopora of HSS, Anil Surpur of Yoga Bharti, Vijaya Asuri, Atul Shah of AIA, Satish Vale, and Manisha Shah of FOG/A4H.

The event was organized and executed by the core karyakartas, including Bimal Bahgwat, Janmejai Singh, Barat Goli, Ayyanar Subburaj, Rajan Rajgoplan, Amit Prakash, Rajesh Konanganparambath, Sunil Ganu, and Ramya T, ensuring a smooth and well-coordinated celebration.
