Bay Area civic leader and 'Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Commission' Commissioner Raghu Reddy and his wife, Padmaja, recently hosted a celebration in Fremont, California, after both of their daughters achieved milestones at the University of California, Berkeley's data science program.
Nidhi Reddy recently graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in data science, while her younger sister, Nitya Reddy, secured admission to the same program, continuing the family's academic journey at the university.
According to the family, both sisters earned places in UC Berkeley's highly competitive data science program. The university is widely recognized for its selective admissions process.
Following her graduation, Nidhi Reddy accepted a full-time engineering role with a global information technology company. The family said she transitioned directly into the technology industry after completing her studies.
Nitya Reddy, inspired by her older sister, secured admission to UC Berkeley's data science program during this year's admissions cycle. The family said her acceptance continues a shared academic milestone, with both sisters pursuing the same field of study at the university.
Raghu Reddy serves as a commissioner on the 'Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Commission' in Milpitas. The family described him as a community leader and entrepreneur who has also served in local school board governance and on the boards of nonprofit organizations.
The celebration in Fremont brought together family members, friends and community representatives from across California. Those in attendance included mayors, district attorneys, commissioners, council members, chief executives, presidents of organizations and other local dignitaries, according to the organizers.
The family described having two daughters study data science at UC Berkeley as "a rare, one-in-a-million achievement."
The event also recognized Nidhi Reddy's graduation and Nitya Reddy's admission as consecutive milestones for the family.
The family said the achievement represents the importance they place on education and credited hard work, dedication and determination for the sisters' success. They also said the accomplishment reflects the guidance and support provided by their parents throughout their academic journeys.
