English football club Manchester United FC has appointed Ameesh Manek as its new Director of Football operations.
Born to Indian-origin parents in Tanzania, Manek will oversee the daily operations for both the men’s and women’s teams of the club.
Poached from the Brentford Football club, where he was serving as the club's Chief Operating Officer, Manek will now serve the 146 years old Manchester club and report directly to United's Sporting Director, Jason Wilcox.

Manek is tasked with running the club's recently renovated Carrington training ground, the base for the club's daily football operations.
While Manek started his career in retail at Mitchells & Butlers and then joined Barclays Bank, his shift to the world of global sports came in 2012, with his appointment as the Independent Board Director of Basketball England.
Before joining Brentford and United, he has also worked with another footballing giant, Arsenal FC, where he served as the club's Head of 1st Team Football Operations.
An alumnus of the London Business School, where he studied Business Administration, Manek joins United with over 25 years experience in Sports, Financial Services and Hospitality across Europe, Middle East, Asia & Africa.
