Air India on July 15 announced continued reductions in the frequency of several long-haul flights to the United States as part of its phased restoration of international operations.
While some routes are being partially restored, key U.S. routes will continue to operate at reduced capacity until at least Sept. 30.

Services between Delhi and Chicago remain cut back from seven flights per week to three, with a slight increase to four weekly flights expected in August.
Flights from Delhi to Washington, D.C. (Dulles) will continue at a reduced frequency of three per week, down from five. The Delhi–San Francisco route will operate seven times weekly, down from ten.
Services on the Delhi–New York (JFK) and Mumbai–New York (JFK) routes are each reduced to six weekly flights, down from seven, effective July 16 and August 1 respectively. The Delhi–Newark (EWR) route is now operating four times a week, down from five.
Other North American routes have also been affected. Delhi–Toronto flights have been reduced from 13 to seven per week, and Delhi–Vancouver from seven to four.
The reductions follow the “Safety Pause” imposed after the June 12 crash of flight AI171 in Ahmedabad. The airline had undertaken additional precautionary checks on its Boeing 787 aircraft and adjusted for longer flying times due to airspace restrictions over Pakistan and parts of the Middle East.
The airline said it is proactively contacting affected passengers to offer alternative re-bookings or full refunds. “Air India apologizes for the inconvenience,” the statement added.
Despite the ongoing reductions, the airline said it continues to operate more than 525 international flights per week across 63 short-, long-, and ultra long-haul routes during this interim period.
