250 @ 250: The Indian American Story / 250moments.indiaspora.org
Indiaspora on July 2 unveiled a digital collection of 250 milestones celebrating the Indian American community's contributions as the United States marks its 250th anniversary.
The curated collection is titled "250 @ 250: The Indian American Story," which chronicles milestones spanning more than 15 categories, including entrepreneurship, national service, science and technology, academia, politics, culture, medicine, and the arts.

According to Indiaspora, the collection recognizes both widely known achievements and lesser-known contributions that have shaped the United States over generations.
The organization said the project reflects the breadth of the Indian American experience, from early immigrant entrepreneurs to today's leaders in technology, government, medicine, business, and public service.
Indiaspora said the project was developed with input from external reviewers to validate the final selection of milestones and is designed to honor not only landmark achievements but also the individuals behind them.
The organization described the initiative as "a celebration of America itself," saying the selected moments demonstrate how Indian Americans have embraced the country's values while contributing to its scientific, economic, civic, and cultural development.
One example is the Indian American community's outsized contribution to medicine. From trailblazer Anandi Gopal Joshi, who earned a Western medical degree in 1886, to Vivek Murthy, who has shaped national public health policy, Indian Americans have played a transformative role in U.S. healthcare.
They have served on the front lines during the COVID-19 pandemic, pioneered advances in CRISPR gene therapy and lung cancer screening, and continue to strengthen the nation's healthcare system through clinical care, research, and innovation.
"Indian Americans haven't just sought a place in American life, they have helped shape it. Across fields like science, education, business, and public service, this community has contributed its talents not for recognition, but out of a genuine sense of belonging. This is our home, and these are our fellow Americans," said M.R. Rangaswami, founder and chairman of Indiaspora.
"Indian Americans have shaped history in extraordinary ways. The Indiaspora 250 @ 250 exists to celebrate these stories and pass them on. A community that knows its story walks taller, reaches higher, and gives back more boldly," said Sanjeev Joshipura, executive director of Indiaspora.
The interactive 250 @ 250 website features the complete collection of milestones marking the Indian American community's contributions over 250 years of U.S. history.
Founded in 2012, Indiaspora is a nonprofit organization that brings together global leaders of Indian origin to advance philanthropy, entrepreneurship, civic engagement, and social impact.
