18th Indian Film Festival held in Houston

The Consulate General of India in Houston supported and participated in the two-day cultural event at Asia Society Texas Center.

The 18th edition of the Indian Film Festival of Houston highlighted the role of cinema in strengthening cultural ties between India and the United States.

Held from Feb. 27–28 at the Asia Society Texas Center, the event brought filmmakers, artists and audiences together to celebrate Indian and international cinema.

The two-day program featured film screenings, panel discussions, Q and A sessions with filmmakers, and cultural performances. The curated lineup included feature films, documentaries, and short films reflecting the range and diversity of Indian storytelling. Receptions and networking events were also held to encourage dialogue and creative collaboration.

Organizers said Indian cinema continues to serve as a bridge between cultures, reflecting India’s diversity, democratic values, and contemporary narratives while connecting with audiences worldwide.

Consul General D.C. Manjunath attended the festival and acknowledged the continuity and commitment of the organizers and volunteers who have sustained the event over the years.

The Consulate expressed appreciation to founder and executive director Sutapa Ghosh and the Indian Film Festival of Houston team for their efforts in presenting Indian and international cinema to Houston audiences.

Over the past 17 years, the festival has showcased more than 100 films selected from hundreds of submissions and has become a recognized event in Houston’s arts calendar
