14th Annual Jersey Women Physician Gala celebrates diversity, and empowerment

The Volunteer and Distinguished Service Awards were announced at the Gala.

The 14th Annual Jersey Women Physician Gala was held on June 21 brought together over 120 female physicians in celebration of professional accomplishments, cultural heritage, and the shared commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).

The event held at Nahar’s Nest was organized by past-president of New Jersey American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) Sudha Nahar and Bharti Deka along with their dedicated team.

The evening commenced with a traditional Ganesh Vandana, which was followed by a program being emceed by Bhavi Patel and Amina Saquib.

A vibrant lineup of performances included Bollywood, Punjabi, and Chinese dances by groups of physicians, showcasing cultural richness. Opera singer Sydelle Ross also delivered a performance. 

Highlights of the evening included the presentation of the Volunteer and Distinguished Service Awards to Charletta Ayers and Jinghui Xie for their notable contributions. The event was graced by physician leaders from across the community, underscoring its significance within the medical fraternity.

Nahar emphasized the Gala’s purpose: to foster an empowering environment for women physicians to thrive and lead with impact. The celebration concluded with a Bolly Zumba session led by Deep Garg, followed by networking activities and a vote of thanks.
