The Indian Embassy in Moscow responded after an Indian traveler said he was stranded at Moscow airport without money, food or water following global flight disruptions linked to the ongoing conflict in West Asia.

Sunil Gupta, who was traveling to Mumbai via Abu Dhabi, said his flight was canceled without notice. In a post on X on March 2, he wrote that he was left without assistance from airline or travel agency staff.

"I'm completely stranded at Moscow airport... alone, helpless, and running out of hope," he wrote.

Gupta said international Visa and Mastercard services were largely non-functional in Russia due to financial restrictions, leaving him unable to access funds. He wrote that he had "ZERO cash left. Not even for food or water."

The Indian Embassy in Moscow responded to his post and shared its emergency contact number for assistance.

Gupta also tagged Etihad Airways and the travel platform he used, alleging that ground staff directed him to contact customer care, which he said was unreachable.

"The Etihad ground staff is avoiding me more than my ex ever did - literally turning their faces away and telling me 'just call customer care,' which has been busy for hours. I'm standing here like a beggar in my own nightmare," he wrote.

In a separate post, he said he could not contact his family.

"I don't know how I'm going to get home. I'm scared. I feel abandoned by the very companies I trusted with my journey. My family is waiting and I can't even tell them I'm safe," he wrote.

Etihad Help, the official guest relations account of Etihad Airways, responded publicly, stating it would look into the matter.
