Recognizing the need for accessible health care for all, Sriram Vempati, a youth director at the California-based nonprofit Suvidha International Foundation, organized two medical camps in Telangana, India, on Feb. 18 and 19.

Vempati, a high school student, collaborated with Suvidha Vikas Trust, Suvidha International Foundation, Chetana Foundation and a dedicated team of doctors to organize the medical camps.

The first medical camp was organized at Annam Seva Foundation. The foundation provides shelter and care to more than 225 residents, including individuals facing mental health and physical disabilities, psychiatric conditions, as well as abandoned elderly men and women.

The second medical camp was organized at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Telangana Backward Classes Welfare Residential Junior College (MJPTBCW). The college serves more than 300 students, many of whom come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

In addition to organizing the camps, Vempati raised $10,000 through his campaign to support the medical programs and help two underserved medical students continue their education.

Annam Srinivasa Rao, the president of Annam Seva Foundation, thanked Vempati, the Indian volunteer team and the doctors from Mamatha Medical College for bringing much-needed health care services directly to their residents.

During the second medical camp, Suvidha International Foundation donated four laptops to MJPTBCW Residential Degree College to boost students’ access to digital learning, academic research and skill development, especially for those from underserved communities.

The foundation has also partnered with an undergraduate team from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, to deliver resume-building workshops and soft-skills sessions, with future plans to introduce advanced training in generative AI, Power BI and cybersecurity to enhance career readiness and job market competitiveness.
