California-based nonprofit, The Suvidha International Foundation, in collaboration with the City of Rancho Cordova, brought together 3000 attendees for the Diwali Festival of Lights at Stone Creek Community Park.

The celebration on Oct. 26 featured performances, fireworks, and community engagement activities highlighting Indian traditions and multicultural unity.
Mayor Siri Pulipati presented an official proclamation recognizing Diwali as a significant cultural event for Rancho Cordova. She commended the Suvidha International Foundation for its community initiatives, including speech and debate programs, robotics projects, and after-school AI education.

Assembly Member Josh Hoover congratulated Suvidha for its efforts in organizing inclusive community events. He presented a Certificate of Recognition from the California State Assembly, noting California’s decision to designate Diwali as an official state holiday effective Jan. 1, 2026.
“Festivals like Diwali celebrate tradition while strengthening bonds and shared values of light, hope, and unity,” Hoover said. Other city officials and dignitaries, including Parks Chairman Rick Sloan, Council Member Joe Little, City Manager Micah Runner, and Judge Jaya Badiga, attended the event.
The festival featured food stalls, clothing and jewelry vendors, and over 25 booths representing nonprofits and local businesses. Cultural performances by groups such as Rocklin Rockstars, Dazzling Critters, and The Light of Dance Academy drew large audiences.
Art and competition zones, including rangoli, lantern-making, and cooking contests, engaged families across age groups.
Lead organizers Bhaskar Vempati, Vandna Sharma, and Shobha Rao and a team of over thirty volunteers coordinated the event.
Vempati thanked the City of Rancho Cordova for supporting the celebration through Measure H funds and acknowledged the photographers, stage crew, and decoration teams for their contributions.

It operates programs in both the United States and India, promoting academic advancement, vocational training, and community service.
The organization is also certified for the Presidential Volunteer Service Award, recognizing youth and adult volunteers for their contributions to society.
