Cal State Fullerton professor honored as 2025 Outstanding Professor

Cal State Fullerton professor Sudarshan Kurwadkar, respected for his teaching, research, and mentorship, has been named the university’s 2025 Outstanding Professor.

An environmental engineer and professor of civil and environmental engineering, Kurwadkar is celebrated by colleagues and students alike for his innovative teaching methods, academic rigor, and unwavering dedication to student success.

Born in the tribal village of Gondpipari in India, Kurwadkar was the first in his family to attend college—and the first engineer from his hometown. He went on to earn a doctorate in environmental engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology, following a bachelor’s and two master’s degrees in civil engineering from Indian institutions.
