The meeting marked a rare coming together of musical generations. Rahman has often acknowledged Yesudas as a significant early influence in his life.
The 84-year-old singer, revered as Gaanagandharvan (Celestial Singer), has recorded over 50,000 songs in various Indian languages. He holds a world record for recording 16 new songs in four languages in a single day and has won the National Award for Best Male Playback Singer eight times.
Rahman’s Wonderment Tour began on July 18 in Vancouver and spans 15 cities, concluding in Boston on Aug. 18. The tour features his multilingual film hits, orchestral storytelling, and immersive visuals, with performances at major venues such as the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles and the Prudential Center in Newark.
