Abhimanyu Gupta made Hindu representative to Overland Park City Board

Abhimanyu Gupta has been appointed as the Hindu representative to the Strong Cities Initiative in the City of Overland Park, Kansas.

The Strong Cities initiative is a global network of 275+ cities dedicated to addressing all forms of hate, extremism and polarisation that can lead to violence, and cataylsing city-led action. Gupta, a has been appointed a

Gupta has been associated with Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA) as a Youth Leader and also serves as its Associate Director of Policy and Research. His appointment to the council marks the first Hindu appointment to the group.

Gupta, on Sept. 2, also met City Council Member Drew Mitrisin and Assistant City Manager Bryan Dehner after the appointment. Mitrisin described the virtual meeting as the highlight of his day and highlighted the importance of the appointment on X, saying, "thousands of Hindu neighbors are at the table + connected to city."



Reacting to his appointment, Gupta said on X, "I am extremely excited that the Hindu Community in Overland Park will have representation and a voice in the
@Strong_Cities initiative. I am proud to be the voice at the table; and invite everyone to get involved!"



Gupta describes himself as an aspiring gene therapist and has previously interned with Asian American television network, Diya TV.
