The American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) has re-elected Avinash Gupta as regional director for the Mid-Atlantic II region for a second consecutive term.
The reappointment recognizes his exemplary leadership, dedication to public service, and commitment to advancing healthcare within the Indian-American medical community.

A board-certified cardiologist in cardiology, nuclear cardiology, and clinical lipidology, Gupta has served the New Jersey community since 1994. He is the chief of cardiology and a former president of the Medical Staff at Monmouth Medical Center – Southern Campus. Beyond medicine, he has also led key organizations, including serving as president of the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) and the Bihar-Jharkhand Association of North America (BJANA)
He also founded the PRAN-BJANA Charitable Clinics, which serve underprivileged populations in the U.S. and India. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he led a vaccination campaign for over 3,500 residents and initiated transcontinental telemedicine services.
Gupta’s leadership extends to the cultural sphere, chairing the Siddhivinayak Temple USA and Indian Cultural Center in Toms River. He completed his residency and fellowship at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn and maintains close ties with his alumni networks both in the U.S. and in Ranchi, India.
