The discussions covered several priorities for hotel owners, including strategies to prevent human trafficking, increasing credit card processing fees, rising insurance costs, brand vendor mandates, and hotel brands' sale of loyalty points.
During the meeting, AAHOA representatives encouraged the Kentucky Attorney General's Office to organize a statewide human trafficking training and awareness seminar modeled on an initiative previously held in Arkansas.
The association said expanding education and awareness efforts remains a priority as it continues to support hotel owners in identifying and helping prevent human trafficking.
Duncan oversees the Attorney General's officelitigating, appellate, and investigative functions. Before assuming the role, he served as the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky from 2017 to 2021, where he led federal prosecutions involving violent crime, drug trafficking, money laundering, public corruption, and child exploitation.
AAHOA said it appreciated the opportunity to engage with Kentucky's leadership on issues affecting the hospitality sector and expressed its commitment to continuing to advocate for policies and initiatives that strengthen the industry and support hotel owners across the Commonwealth.
