The memoir of late Indian American neurosurgeon Paul Kalanithi, which was released nearly a decade ago, has resurfaced on The New York Times bestseller list this week, confirming the enduring resonance of his contemplations on life, death, and meaning.
When Breath Becomes Air, completed in the final months of Kalanithi’s life and published in 2016, chronicles his transition from physician to patient after being diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer at the age of 36.
