California-based AI startup company Anthropic has appointed Rahul Patil as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
Patil will oversee compute, infrastructure, inference, and broader engineering operations of the company and will report to Anthropic President Daniela Amodei.
Joining Anthropic with over two decades of industry experience, Patil transitioned to Anthropic from fin-tech brand Stripe, where he served as the CTO. He has also worked at Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, Oracle and ClearTax in various tech and leadership positions.

Patil completed his Bachelor's in Computer Science Engineering from PES Institute of Technology and then went on to get Master's degrees in Computer Science and Business Administration from Arizona State University and University of Washington.
Expressing joy over the appointment, Patil said on LinkedIn, "I am grateful to join the humble, brilliant, hardworking and conscientious crew at Anthropic that has ignited much of the imagination and excitement around the world!"
He added, "AI possibilities seem endless, and it is going to be an extraordinary adventure of discoveries and effort to make these possibilities real."
Anthropic is an AI safety and research company founded in 2021 by former OpenAI executives, focused on developing reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems like the Claude chatbot family. With major investments from Amazon and Google, it reached a $183 billion valuation by September 2025, emphasizing ethical AI deployment and long-term societal benefits.
