Leap to Shine, a New Jersey based nonprofit, hosted its annual fundraiser on Sept. 13, raising more than $125,000.

A GuideStar Platinum-rated nonprofit, the organization works to provide underserved children in India with access to digital learning opportunities by providing digital tablets preloaded with curriculum to underprivileged students.

Dedicated to enhancing lives through educational initiatives, Leap to Shine commits 95 cents of each dollar donated directly to programs that uplift students. With its pioneering method, the organization distributes digital tablets loaded with educational content, bypassing the need for internet connectivity. Students' progress is monitored using a brief Wi-Fi connection once every two weeks, allowing donors to check progress of children they are supporting.

The fund-raising event featured a dance competition, 'Dancing for a Cause,' where 13 community leaders teamed up with renowned choreographers to raise funds and awareness. Weeks of rehearsals culminated in a spectacular stage performance that blended art with philanthropy.

The evening’s highlight were choreographers Krish & Krutika from Unnati Dance Academy, Dr. Devang Modi from Simply Dance, Shivani Badgi from Gurukul, Sangita Das and Chinmay Ashar from Shehnaz Dance Academy, and independent artists Pavitra Jayakanth, Reshika Balayan, and Shweta Karhadkar.

The contest was judged by a distinguished panel, including Amit Shah, Bhumit Patel, and Savitha Anand.

The evening also included a keynote speech by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Adam Graves (Anuja), who highlighted the critical role of organizations like Leap to Shine in the worldwide effort to combat child labor.

The fund-raiser was supported by title-sponsorship from HSBC, along with individual sponsorships including Shefali and Shah, Natasha and Indranil Bagchi, and Megha Bhouraskar.

Noting the generous contributions from the donors, the Director at Leap to Shine, Keyur Shah said, “We are deeply grateful for the unwavering support of our donors, volunteers, and partners.”

Shah added, “This year, we’re excited to scale our mentorship model and expand our volunteer network to reach even more children in need.”
