Inaugural International Gatka Championship to be held in Texas
All matches will be conducted under the official rules published by the WGF, with a certified panel of referees and judges overseeing the competition.

The World Gatka Federation (WGF), the global governing body for the traditional Sikh martial art of Gatka, is set to host the first International Virsa Sambhal Gatka Championship.
Scheduled to take place on September 12 at Gurdwara Sikh Sangat in Euless, Texas, the day-long championship is being organized in collaboration with the management of Gurdwara Sikh Sangat.
The announcement was made jointly by WGF chairman S. Kalvinder Singh, who is also president of the Gatka Federation USA, and WGF general secretary Deep Singh.

A day before the championship, on September 11, the WGF will conduct its first International Gatka Refresher Course. The training session is aimed at improving the technical proficiency of referees, judges and other officials.
According to Deep Singh, the course will help standardize rules and bring officials onto a common platform, while contributing to the development of a skilled cadre of referees for future local and international competitions.
The championship will feature competitions across several age groups. The Under-14 category will include exhibition matches and Single Soti Fight events. Participants in the 17, 21 and 25 age groups will compete in Single-Soti Fight events in both Singh and Kaur divisions.
S. Swaranjit Singh Khalsa, the first Sikh mayor of Norwich, Connecticut, and S. Himmat Singh, coordinator of the World Sikh Parliament, will attend the championship as chief guests and present awards to tournament champions.
All matches will be conducted under the official rules published by the WGF, with a certified panel of referees and judges overseeing the competition.
Championship coordinators S. Gurdeep Singh and Harveer Singh thanked the management committee and congregation of Gurdwara Sikh Sangat for their support in hosting the event.
