Elderly Victims And A Huge Fraud: Indian Student Convicted in U.S

April 2026 370 views 1:37

An Indian student visa holder has been convicted in the United States for his role in a multi-state fraud scheme targeting elderly victims. Federal prosecutors say Venkateswara Chagamreddy, 27, helped run a scam where victims were tricked into believing they were speaking with Microsoft support and federal officials. They were then told to convert their savings into gold and hand it over to fake government agents. Authorities say the case highlights the growing threat of organized fraud networks targeting older Americans.
