Friends of Nepal hosts prayer meet for protest victims
January 2030 5 views 2:35The Nepali diaspora in New Jersey gathered on September 21 to honor those killed in Nepal’s recent Gen Z protests—the deadliest unrest the country has seen in decades. Organized by Friends of Nepal, the prayer service at Princeton’s Buddhist Vihara drew around 50 community members, who circled the Stupa of Enlightenment in remembrance of the 72 lives lost. The protests erupted after the government banned 26 social media platforms, quickly escalating into a nationwide uprising against corruption that toppled the regime. From Kathmandu to New Jersey, Nepalese communities are mourning, sending prayers, and holding onto hope for peace and a chance to rebuild their home.
