Indian-origin engineer Venkat Venkatasubramanian has been elected to the U.S. National Academy of Engineering (NAE), one of the highest professional honors in the field. Venkatasubramanian, the Samuel Ruben-Peter G. Viele Professor of Engineering at Columbia University, is recognized for his pioneering contributions to artificial intelligence-based methods in process fault diagnosis, safety, pharmaceutical engineering, and materials design.
