Upstate Medical University has presented Indian-American academic leader Rajesh Davé with the President’s Award for Distinguished Service at its Fall Faculty Convocation on Sept. 10. The President’s Award is one of Upstate’s highest recognitions, honoring individuals whose contributions have had a lasting effect on the university and its community.
Davé has led the Binghamton Clinical Campus for nearly 30 years, serving as dean of Undergraduate Medical Education since 1997. He has directed third- and fourth-year medical students in their clinical rotations with community physicians while also holding a faculty role as clinical professor of pediatrics.

Davé is an active member of various community boards and educational institutes. He is a past president of the South-Central Healthy Mothers/Healthy Babies and of the South Central New York State Perinatal Association. He is also a member of the board for HealtheConnections, a regional health information network for an 11-county area, and of the Community Foundation of South-Central New York. He received his medical degree from the University of Bombay, later earning an MBA from Binghamton University.
Nancy Kern Eaton, president of the United Way of Central New York, was also recognized for her long-standing advocacy and support of Upstate's mission.
