According to the event description, the discussion will explore the relationship between finance, technology, and economic policy.  It will also discuss concerns about economic opportunity and political influence.

“Americans, especially young people, are increasingly worried about their place in the future of our economy and whether they have a voice in charting that future,” the event organizers said, noting the significance of the session.

The session will assess who holds influence within the country’s democratic and economic systems, with particular focus on Silicon Valley, Wall Street, and Washington.

According to the event description, the study group will follow an off-the-record format intended to promote candid discussion, in line with Institute of Politics practices.

Chopra most recently served as the third director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and earlier as a commissioner of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

He was also the first Student Loan Ombudsman at the CFPB under the Dodd-Frank Act.

A Harvard University alumnus, Chopra earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and served as president of the student body.

Participation for the study group is limited to members of the Harvard community and requires advance RSVP.
